Tesla Powerwall 2

Hooray at last! Tesla along with SA Regional Solar have appeared on the Home Battery Scheme website. This enables you to request a quote through the government scheme and be eligible for $6000 from the SA Government. Concession holders can access $600 per kWh battery capacity while non concession holders $500 per kWh, up to a maximum of $6000. Because the Tesla Powerwall has a capacity of 13.5 kWh everyone that purchases a Tesla Powerwall 2 will be able to access the full subsidy.

SA Regional Solar will be also be supplying the LG Chem batteries but as yet they haven't appeared as an option on the HBS website.

South Australia’s Home Battery Scheme means lower electricity costs for the 40,000 households who purchase a system. In addition, the installation of these systems will reduce demand on the network (especially during peak periods) and in turn, lower energy prices for all South Australians.

As Michael Bloch said on the Solar Quotes website:

Early Birds Don’t Always Catch The Most Cost-Effective Worm

It was the looming availability of other good quality storage systems that led SQ’s Finn Peacock to advice back in October to hold off on a system purchase until the new year, as some of the new entrants would be significantly cheaper than Sonnen’s offering.
